Russell Batiste and Friends
When it comes to drummers, none are funkier than Russell Batiste. Over the years he's manned the kit for several of New Orleans most successful acts including the Funky Meters and George Porter Jr. & the Runnin' Pardners. Currently, he keeps the beat for power funk trio Porter Batiste Stoltz, and each Sunday he can be heard at the Maple Leaf stirring up the shuffle of Joe Krown and Walter "Wolfman" Washington. Batiste has also been known to throw some of the best jam session in the Crescent City. Though you never know who's going to show up, it's guaranteed to gush with the greasiest grooves around.

What is the Bayou Boogaloo?
The Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo is a community music festival organized for the purpose of both providing a community-building experience and raising funds for charities supported by the Mothership Foundation. The festival is held annually on the banks of Bayou Saint John in New Orleans.
