The Bayou Boogaloo is a free admission music festival in Mid City, the heart of the City of New Orleans, held on the banks of the beautiful and historic Bayou St. John. The spirit of the festival captures the spirit of this diverse and historic neighborhood. It is a family friendly cultural event that celebrates the heritage of New Orleans music, New Orleans cuisine, and New Orleans culture.
Over 20,000 people attended the event last year enjoying live music from three stages, dining on local food, sampling local culture and an art market comprised of local artists. The Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo is projecting long-term growth in its position as the last major music event before the dog days of summer.
With the introduction of the Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo, a new tradition is being established on the banks of this historic and beautiful urban waterway. The festival features live music stages, both acoustic and electric with a wide variety of musical genres including New Orleans roots in Blues, Jazz , Funk, Cajun, Zydeco, Latin, Brass, Country, Alternative, Hip Hop and Rock. With the introduction of the Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo, a new tradition is being established on the banks of this historic and beautiful urban waterway. Previous performers include: Anders Osbourne, The Revealers, Soul Rebels Brass Band, Panorama Jazz Band, Lynn Drury, Glen David Andrews, Gal Holiday, High Ground Drifters, Golden Commanche Mardi Gras Indians, Ingrid Lucia, SwampGrease, Bruce Daigrepont, Otra, Walter "Wolfman" Washington, Rebirth Brass Band, Rumba Buena, Hard Head Hunters Mardi Gras Indians, and many others.
If we had our way, we would hire every working musician in Louisiana. Unfortunately, that is impossible and we try and change up the line-up making it fair for everyone who wants to perform.
